Calendar Variations
Allan Kaprow (1927 - 2006) developed scores as a way of listening deeply to the world. Calendar Variations 2010-11 is an exhibition of work developed in response to the score, Calendar 1971. It is a riddle that evokes time through states of change. By performing the score in drawings, walking, by exchanging experiences, we prompt our imaginations to find meaning as individuals and a group. This project is a collaborative and experimental venture, co-produced by Professor Kathleen Coessens, pianist and philosopher of Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Professor Anne Douglas, visual artist and researcher, Robert Gordon University, with artist Reiko Goto, Robert Gordon University. Kathleen and Anne are Senior Research Fellows of Orpheus Research Centre in Music; Anne and Reiko are members of On the Edge research project.
